Platform Differences: Know the Rules
| Amazon | eBay | Walmart | Shopify | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Buy Box | Algorithm-driven | N/A | Price + shipping speed | N/A (your store) |
| SEO priority | Sales velocity | Seller rating | Price + content | Google SEO |
| Fees | 15% referral + FBA | 13% final value | 8-15% referral | Subscription + CC fees |
| Advertising | SP, SB, SD, DSP | Promoted Listings | Sponsored Search | Google/Meta Ads |
| Key metric | Conversion rate | DSR score | Price parity | Traffic / CAC |
Understanding these differences is what separates effective multi-channel selling from just listing the same product everywhere. Each platform requires its own strategy, content, and pricing approach.
The Cross-Platform Pricing Trap
Amazon's price parity policy means they monitor your prices across other channels. If your Shopify store sells the same product cheaper, Amazon can suppress your Buy Box or even remove your offer. Walmart has similar policies. The solution: maintain consistent pricing across all channels, or use exclusive bundles/variants that aren't directly comparable across platforms.
